Draw Roland Garros
Gorki - 23-5-2003 at 01:04 PM

You will probably all read it on your newspaper throughout the world , but here's the draw for Vera in Roland Garros:

1st: M. Muller (Ger)

and then, possible encounters against:
2nd: Chladkova (Tch)
3rd: Dementieva 'Rus, 13)
1/8F: ... V. Williams (USA, 3)

I don't dare to look further!

1/4F: Capriati
1/2F: Kim Clijsters

No, seriously, it could be a nice match. let's hope she can hold the entire match, and not only the first set as she did last year against Serena.

Ivan - 26-5-2003 at 11:10 AM

It couldn't be any worse than that.!

Anyways, I think it is for the best.

Mastaeroth - 26-5-2003 at 08:46 PM

Hi Everybody!!
I'm a very big fun of Vera; I know her since she was ranked around 380, when she came here in Sardinia to play a 5000$ ITF.
Then I saw her in Cagliari.
As I helped people of the tennis club in Quartu I saw her a lot of time!!!
Then I was very happy to find she proved to become stronger and stronger!!!
And I'm happy to find now a site about her!!
I was sure she would have become great!!!!!!!

You know, once I also found her on a messenger I'm sure it was her because she described me Quartu's Tennis club!! I was so much happy!! Then I sent her a pic of mine, and she went away, maybe she didn't like me
Ok That's all folks!!! Hope to hear about you soon!

Mastaeroth - 27-5-2003 at 09:45 AM

Good!!! 6-1 on first set!!!

David - 28-5-2003 at 07:32 AM

Vera Zvonareva vs. Martina Muller:
6-1, 6-3

Well done Vera!.

Hey, Mastaeroth, interesting story. You should know that Vera reads this Forum every now and then.

Bye

Mastaeroth - 28-5-2003 at 11:40 AM

Very Good!!!!
oh, Quartu was a 10000$, I was wrong

you all can find information about results of that old tournament here:

http://www.angelfire.com/space/wta/tur2001/quar625.htm
< a> />
and about Cagliari (here Vera was seeded 1!!):

http://www.angelfire.com/space/wta/tur2001/cagl620.htm
< a> />

I hope you all like me like reading also old news

see you!!

Mastaeroth - 28-5-2003 at 11:46 AM

oh, these tournaments were very interesting, you will notice also other names of players that now are in the top of world ranking; as Iveta Benesova, Svetlana Kuznetsova (if I'm not wrong this was one of her first three tours!) and Natalia Gussoni.
These three players were all present at present edition of Roland Garros!

That's all!!
I hope not to have been boring!!

Mastaeroth - 29-5-2003 at 05:25 PM

Yeah!!!!!!!!!

6-2
6-3

Go On VERA!!!!!!!!!

Vlad - 29-5-2003 at 05:38 PM

In the second round Vera had a routing win over a Denisa Chladkova (ranked 38). Although she had to fight in the last game of the first set
(she won it after 11 deuces), then raced to a 4:0 lead in the second. Chladkova made 62 unforced errors..

In the third round Vera plays Maria Sanchez Lorenzo (ranked 60). Let's hope she'll bring her best!!!

Ian - 30-5-2003 at 12:38 AM

This is getting good.
Roland Garros is a great tournament.
The only bad thing is that Vera's matches were not televised in the US.
We're stuck with espn and american players only.

Keep up the good work Vera!!

Gorki - 30-5-2003 at 10:52 AM

Yep yep, it's getting good...
Venus Williams dropped her first set: is it a sign? Maybe, or maybe not!

We don't have live coverage here either: even when Vera played against Muller, there was nothing to watch on german television...

But, if she plays against Venus,... It would be great !

Ivan - 30-5-2003 at 04:37 PM

Vera can definitely beat Venus.
I have no doubt about it.

But Venus is a fighter so you can expect anything.

Vlad - 30-5-2003 at 04:52 PM

Well my sister saw her matches in Russia on eurosport and NTV + and she said that Vera played ok but she can play better. On the other hand she won couple of matches pretty easily, so she will be better for better opponents and she is a great fighter too.

Mastaeroth - 31-5-2003 at 10:09 AM

6-3!
And a set has gone!!!

Mastaeroth - 31-5-2003 at 11:14 AM

and 6-4

another one bytes the dust!

Vlad - 31-5-2003 at 11:25 AM

So, Vera is in round of 16 and plays Venus Williams. Last year she was tired and played Serena in the same round. This year though she is fresh after third straight set win and can pose some problems for Venus even though Williams played very good match vs. Elia (serving up to 120mph). It is already a good result but let's hope for the best!

Go VERA!

Ian - 1-6-2003 at 02:03 AM

This is great.
I'm really happy that Vera is playing against Venus. If Vera can withstand the mental and physical pressure of playing against Venus then it will be a hell of a match.

David - 1-6-2003 at 07:13 AM

Most importantly for us living on the western hemisphere is that we'll get to see Vera's match against Venus on espn.

It has already been commented the fact that Vera is well rested for this match, as Vlad already said Vera has won three matches in two straight sets. But Venus is not too tired either. She crushed her last opponent and seems to be playing very well. So, I'd expect a very tough match for Vera.

Gorki - 1-6-2003 at 01:15 PM

At least I could grab some live coverage of Vera yesterday against Sanchez Lorenzo.

Both played well, but Vera will need to play better to beat Venus.
She showed some great stuff though (drop shots, big fore hand,...),... and she still looks so nervous on the court!

If I had to bet for the game against Venus (not that I consider tennis players as horses or so !), I would put my money on Vera !

Ivan - 1-6-2003 at 07:00 PM

1/4 finale:

Serena Williams USA (1)
contre
Amelie Mauresmo FRA (5)

Justine Henin-Hardenne BEL (4)
contre
Chanda Rubin USA (8)

Nadia Petrova RUS
contre
Vera Zvonareva RUS (22)

Conchita Martinez ESP (24)
contre
Kim Clijsters BEL (2)

I would like to see Mauresmo beat Serena, Henin beat Rubin, Vera beat Petrova and Clijsters beat Conchita.

That'd be fine for most of the fans. Besides the french deserve Amelie to be in the semifinals.

Squiggy6 - 1-6-2003 at 10:44 PM

I absolutely agree with you that Vera's play and beauty far exceeds Anna. If I could marry either Vera or Anna, there isnt anything Anna could do to convince me I should marry her over Vera. marry me Vera

Kermit - 2-6-2003 at 04:38 AM

i wanna see the results the same all 4 as you

justine, kim and vera are great
(the first two because i 'm from belgium, the last because she surprised me yesterday with beating venus and because she's much more beautiful than all other tennis players )

Kermit - 2-6-2003 at 04:38 AM

does she has a friend?

David - 2-6-2003 at 06:07 AM

I think the question here is How much you are supposed to earn or how good looking you are supposed to be in order to be worthy of a Top star tennis player like Anna or Vera and not the other way around.

I'd say you'd have to make a couple of millions a year (US dlls.), look like Brad pitt or both.
hehe

Kermit - 2-6-2003 at 06:24 AM

I'd say you'd have to make a couple of millions a year (US dlls.), look like Brad pitt or both.

for her it's both now i think

Gorki - 2-6-2003 at 06:27 AM

Tsss tsss tssss, and what about the feelings inside ?!

David - 2-6-2003 at 06:35 AM

It's all about Money.

WTA = Hollywood.
Vera Zvonareva = Julia Roberts.

Welcome to what we call "showbiz"

It's showtime.

yeah, yeah, I know ... Sad but true.

Ivan - 7-6-2003 at 02:25 PM

Congratulations to Justine Henin-Hardenne for playing a nearly perfect game and wining the 2003 Roland Garros tournament.

Great win for Belgium.

David - 7-6-2003 at 04:38 PM

Incredible win for Justine.

Ian - 8-6-2003 at 01:42 AM

Yay!

Well, precision triumphed over force and the little justine henin made it big.
